Yoga Stop. Why the name?

We need to Stop to be able to connect with ourselves, to who we really are or want to become. We need to stop to feel the sensation of the breath in our bodies, stop to notice the beauty that surrounds us. To stop for at least a minute to be able to see things clearer, as with clarity we can make the right choices.

We need to stop to connect to our uniqueness and with our purpose in life, we need to stop to give our loved ones the time they deserve. Our modern lives are lived in a way where we never stop. We are either in the future, planning and projecting, or in the past, re-living things in our thoughts. However, we are hardly ever in the now, so stopping is crucial to shaping our lives into what we want them to become.

Aerial Yoga

Experience yoga in a whole new way. Whether you are brand new to yoga or a seasoned yogi, aerial yoga is an experience all on its own.

Working with gravity allows you to relax and realign the body, centre the mind and lift the spirit in a very safe, caring environment.

This is authentic yoga with the support of a soft, aerial hammock. Aerial yoga will decompress and lengthen the spine, and open the hips and chest in a much deeper way.

All levels of experience welcome.

Retreats

I host several retreats a year at Opito Bay in the Coromandel. Only a few hours from Auckland, Tauranga or Hamilton, this is a unique place in the world and just by being there you will feel on top of it.

Retreats are a great way to step out from your daily busy life, and to relax and connect with yourself.

Our retreat centre is one of a kind, located at the top of a hill overlooking the ocean. With a luxury set up and surrounded by nature, myself and another yoga teacher will team up to cover everything you need to unwind, treat yourself and detox from the stresses of daily life.

Traditional Yoga

I change the style of class each week, the goal of this class is to connect with yourself, check in where you are physically and mentally, I will guide you to find answers inside rather than outside as you learn to listen and trust your intuitive soul.

I also work with mindful intentions that will help you shape your lives in the direction you wish, as you connect more with your hearts deepest desires.

In my classes, you will build strength, increase flexibility and work with your breath.

Yoga For Crossfit/Athletes

Yoga can help you grow as an athlete, to reach your goals and continue to excel beyond your wildest expectations. Additionally, it will help release your muscles and relieve general tightness.

Are your heels coming off the ground in your overhead squat? Is it impossible for you to do a handstand because your shoulders are so tight? How are your pistols? Can you get down there? Practising basic yoga poses helps reinforce external rotation of the hips and shoulders, which is necessary for many basic movements in CrossFit.

Vinyasa Yoga is a practice of linking movement to breath, so you move through postural transitions using inhalations and exhalations. This pattern of breath awareness seamlessly transfers to a long burpee workout where the timing of breath and rhythm is essential to staying on point. Yoga also helps you learn how to breathe deeply into your diaphragm, which directly translates into your ability to produce more power and sustain movements for longer durations.

Overall Mobility

Yoga also relaxes you deeply and helps you come back with more power, focus, and determination.

CrossFit is all about community, and so is yoga. Anytime you bring people together with a common focus or goal, those people will feel connected to each other.

Yoga kids

Yoga has SO many benefits for kids. Yoga means ‘union’ and works on bringing all aspects of our self into balance.

Research shows that kids learn best with a multi-sensory approach, using kinaesthetic learning through breath work, mindfulness, and creative relaxation. Kids face many challenges on a daily basis and while they are developing their personalities, it is very important they grow with a sense of self-confidence and acceptance, so they are prepared for life.
